Romatem Health Group held a healthy-living seminar at the İnci and Taner Altınmakas care home, run by Nilüfer Municipality in Bursa, to support quality of life and active ageing among older residents.

Speaking at the event, Romatem sports medicine specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Melda Pelin Yargıç Çelen explained how an active lifestyle affects physical health in later life. The seminar stressed the role of regular exercise in preventing rheumatic disease, protecting the musculoskeletal system and staying independent in daily activities.

“Do not avoid everyday movements such as bending, standing up and climbing stairs. A walk after meals in particular should become a habit,” Dr. Çelen said. She also pointed to the value, for people over 65, of 20 to 30 minutes of aerobic exercise on several days a week, for mental as well as physical health.

After the talk, residents took part in practical sessions of simple strength and balance exercises that can be done at home.
