Accessibility statement
Our conformance target, known issues and how to report a barrier.
Our target and why it matters here more than most sites
We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This is a commitment rather than a claim of perfection, and known limitations are listed below.
It matters more on this site than on most: a large share of our visitors have had a stroke, a brain injury or a spinal cord injury, or are managing pain, fatigue or reduced vision. An inaccessible rehabilitation website excludes precisely the people it exists for.
What we have deliberately built in
Every form field has a visible label. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed. Focus is visible on every interactive element. The site is operable by keyboard throughout. Animation respects the reduced-motion preference.
There is no CAPTCHA anywhere, including on the contact form. Visual puzzles are a barrier to people with visual, motor and cognitive difficulty, so spam is handled by invisible checks instead.
Known limitations
Colour contrast, keyboard operation and form labelling are designed to the target level. Conformance has not been confirmed by an independent audit with assistive technology.
Some Health Library tables scroll horizontally on small screens, which is workable but not ideal. Video content does not carry captions or transcripts, which is the largest limitation on this list.
Tell us and we will fix it
If something on this site blocks you, tell us what page it was and what happened. We will fix it and tell you when it is done rather than log it silently.
If you need information from this site in another format — read aloud, larger text, a document rather than a web page — ask and we will provide it.
Legal context
The European Accessibility Act applies to services provided to consumers in the EU from June 2025, and its national implementations set enforceable requirements for websites of this kind.
We do not claim conformity beyond what has been tested.
