Visitor policy

Visiting hours and conditions.

Visiting

Visiting hours are set per centre and per unit; intensive and post-operative areas are more restricted. Children under twelve visiting inpatient areas require prior agreement. Visitors with any infectious symptoms are asked not to attend — in a rehabilitation unit an outbreak costs every patient therapy days.

How visiting works around a therapy day

A rehabilitation day is heavily scheduled, and visits generally work best outside therapy hours. Patients are also more tired than visitors expect — several hours of daily therapy is physically demanding.

Visiting hours are set per centre. Ask when you arrive rather than assuming a hospital-style open policy.

Infection and shared spaces

Visitors who are unwell should not attend. In a facility with immobile patients and people recovering from major illness, a common respiratory infection is not a minor matter.

Hand hygiene on entry and exit is expected, and there may be restrictions in shared therapy areas.

Children and larger groups

Children are welcome and generally need to be accompanied and supervised, particularly around therapy equipment. Larger family groups are usually better split across visits than accommodated at once.

If a significant visit is planned, tell the team in advance so it can be scheduled rather than colliding with the therapy programme.

Where to next

Talk to someone before you decide

Four ways to reach the international office, depending on where you are. Nothing here commits you to treatment — a second opinion, a video consultation and a written plan are all free, and you can start with a question.
