Cookie policy

No cookie is set until you make a choice in the cookie window. Your choice is then stored in one strictly necessary cookie, rm_consent, for six months, so that you are not asked again on every page.

If you agree, two services are loaded: Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages are read; and Meta Pixel, to measure whether our adverts on Facebook and Instagram lead to visits and enquiries. If you refuse, neither is loaded — not even Tag Manager — and the site works exactly the same.

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. Session cookies last until you close the browser; persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them.

We use three categories. Necessary: the rm_consent cookie that stores your choice. Analytics: Google Analytics, which sets _ga and _ga_ cookies for up to two years. Advertising: Meta Pixel, which sets the _fbp cookie for three months.

Meta Pixel does not run on medical pages — conditions, treatments, programmes, technology, specialists, the health library, articles, outcomes and Ask Romi. On every page, nothing you type into a form is sent to Google or Meta: they receive only that a request was sent, the type of page and the language. No email address or phone number is shared with Meta.

Video thumbnails, and the silent video at the top of the home page and the About page, are served from our own server. Nothing is requested from YouTube until you click play on a video.

If you click play, the video loads via youtube-nocookie.com and YouTube may then set cookies under its own policy. The player states this before you click.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page. Withdrawing deletes the Google and Meta cookies set on this site and reloads the page without them. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works fully without them.

Google Analytics is provided by Google and Meta Pixel by Meta. Both may process the data they receive in the United States.
