Clinical protocols

Summaries of the protocols we use.

Protocols

Programme structure, dosage and progression criteria for our main pathways, with the outcome measures applied at each stage. Provided so a referring clinician can judge whether the programme matches the patient.

What our protocols are based on

Published clinical guidelines and the evidence base for each condition, adapted to the individual assessment. Where guidelines differ between countries — and they do, particularly on timing and intensity — we will say which we are following and why.

Where evidence is weak, we say so rather than presenting a protocol as settled.

Working to a surgeon's protocol

For post-surgical rehabilitation, weight-bearing status, range restrictions and progression timelines are set by the operating surgeon and differ between surgeons and implants for the same procedure.

We ask for the protocol in writing before admission and contact the surgeon where a patient arrives without it. We do not infer a protocol from the name of the operation.

What we will share

Referring clinicians and institutional partners can request our protocol documentation for a specific condition or programme. We would rather it be examined than described.

If you disagree with an element of it, we would like to hear the argument. That is a more useful conversation than most.

Four ways to reach the international office, depending on where you are. Nothing here commits you to treatment — a second opinion, a video consultation and a written plan are all free, and you can start with a question.
